Wadsworth Falls is a 25-foot, cascading waterfall inside Wadsworth Falls State Park on the border of Middlefield and Middletown, Connecticut. Sometimes referred to as Big Falls, it is ironically shorter in height than the park's Little Falls, which stands at 40 feet. However, Wadsworth Falls has a larger flow than Little Falls, which tends to be more seasonal. This waterfall can be seen by parking at a side entrance to the park and walking a short distance from the lot.
Wadsworth Falls is named after Colonel Clarence C. Wadsworth of the New York National Guard, where he lived before marrying and moving to Middletown. From there, he spent roughly forty years developing the area where the park resides before his death in 1941. Through The Rockfall Corporation established in his will, the area was transferred to the state of Connecticut in 1942.
