Rufus Morgan Falls is a magnificent 70-foot waterfall near Franklin, North Carolina in the Nantahala National Forest. A winding dirt road takes you 2 miles up Albert Mountain to an unassuming trailhead. From there, it's a mostly uphill 0.6-mile trek along the blue-blazed trail to see the falls, and boy is the trail quite spectacular. Just before the main waterfall is a smaller waterfall, which we'll call Lower Rufus Morgan Falls, that stands about 20-feet tall. Due to the nature of its location, this Rufus Morgan Falls feels like a real hidden gem, with few visitors even on the weekend. It's definitely worth a visit!
