Baskins Falls is a 40-foot two-tier cascade whose trailhead is right off the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. A less popular neighbor to Rainbow Falls, Baskins Falls is also known as Baskins Creek Falls. However, the waterfall itself is actually located along Falls Branch where the Baskins Creek Trail makes a detour.
There is a small parking area for one to two cars directly at the trailhead. However, more parking is available further along Roaring Fork Road. The trail also connects to the Rainbow Falls Trailhead. If hiking from there, you'll add an extra mile to the 3.7-mile hike. Arrive early, as this entire area fills up very quickly.
The trail itself is less technical than the Rainbow Falls Trail but more technical than the Grotto Falls Trail. You will still encounter a lot of inclines, though, especially on the way back. The final descent is especially steep and rocky.
Note: Great Smoky Mountains National Park requires a parking pass when parking within the park boundaries for more than 15 minutes. A daily pass can be obtained for $5 or a weekly pass for $15 here.
