Cataract Falls is a quaint 25-foot cascade nestled in the Sugarlands area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This national park is known for its population of American black bears, and as it turns out, they enjoy Cataract Falls as much as we humans do! Aside from surprise bear encounters, this trail is short and easy. From the visitor center, head northeast to take the trail behind the building. It's a quick 0.5-mile walk to the falls.
Note: Great Smoky Mountains National Park requires a parking pass when parking within the park boundaries for more than 15 minutes. A daily pass can be obtained for $5 or a weekly pass for $15 here.
