Falling Spring Falls is a beautiful roadside waterfall that plunges 80 feet along Falling Spring Creek in the Alleghany Highlands near Covington, Virginia. It is one of the most popular and photographed waterfalls in the state of Virginia. In the right light, visitors can even see rainbows in the mist.
Sadly, scrambling down to the base is no longer legal, which is unfortunate because the small cascades and spring-like pools at the bottom of the falls, which are not easily seen from the road, really add a lot of personality and uniqueness to the falls. The area is said to be patrolled frequently, and violators could face fines. For now, visitors will need to enjoy the view from the road or see its full glory through prior photographs and videos online. Despite this, it's definitely still worth a visit!
