Nestled peacefully inside Short Springs State Natural Area in Tullahoma, Tennessee is the 60-foot, cascading Machine Falls! The natural engineering of this waterfall is truly impressive. I felt like I could sit and watch it for hours!
There are multiple hikes in the area that will take you past this waterfall. The shortest is a 1.2-mile out-and-back route. You can also take the 1.4-mile Machine Falls Loop Trail for a more complete hike. For those feeling extra adventurous, a 3.1-mile loop will take you to see Upper and Lower Busby Falls, Machine Falls, and Adams Falls. If doing the largest loop, plan for about 4-5 hours to ensure you have time to hike and enjoy all the falls. The parking lot is small, so plan on arriving early before it fills up.
