Harper Creek Falls (North)

North Harper Creek Falls is a 40-foot sliding waterfall near Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. Accessing the trailhead requires traversing a 3-mile stretch of unpaved road. AWD and some degree of clearance is recommended. The trailhead is marked by a blue-blazed sign that says "N. Harper Creek Trail. 266." There is a small roadside grave space for parking that will fit 3-4 vehicles. From the trailhead, the trail descends for nearly the entire time, so be prepared to ascend on the way back. At roughly 0.8 miles in, you'll cross the creek above the waterfall. This spot is photo-worthy itself and is a great place for a picnic or sunbathing. Shortly after crossing the creek, a sharp switchback leads to a final descent towards the falls.
